Philanthropy

The brothers of Delta Upsilon are proud to host philanthropies that support both local and national organizations.

Dogfest

During the fall quarter, the brothers host "Dogfest" which supports Canine Companions, a non-profit organization that enhances the lives of people with disabilities by providing highly trained assistance dogs at no charge to the recipient. We set up a booth in the middle of the Cal Poly SLO campus where students can stop by and pet the service dogs provided by the Canine Companions trainers in order to raise awareness for their cause. We also sell custom photo calendars featuring the brothers and their dogs as well as custom Dogfest t-shirts to generate proceeds for an organization that is near and dear to our chapter.

Tie DYe

In the winter, we host "Tie Dye" in support of Lumina Alliance, a nonprofit organization local to SLO County, whose vision is to create a world free of sexual assault and intimate partner violence. Tie DYe is a social philanthropy where we sell white DU t-shirts that can be tie dyed with the chapter during the event. We also sell food and beverages, play music, hold raffles, and set up games inside the house. The brothers are proud to represent a local organization with a righteous cause.

DUdes for St. Jude

To close out the school year in the spring, the brothers host "DUdes for St. Jude" which supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in their mission to advance cures, and means of prevention, for pediatric catastrophic diseases through research and treatment. In the past, we have sold custom DU Cal Poly SLO pub glasses, insulated travel mugs, embroidered pinstripe baseball jerseys, and embroidered sweat shorts. Our chapter is excited to continue working with such a well-established and reputable organization.
